Canberra World Kangaroo Day. REMEMBERING THE FALLEN. HONOURING THEIR LIVES.

  • The Pinnacle Nature Reserve Springvale Drive Australian Capital Territory Australia (map)

🦘 REMEMBERING THE FALLEN. HONOURING THEIR LIVES.

A gathering of remembrance, poetry, reflection and respect for Canberra's kangaroos.

Join fellow kangaroo advocates for a moving vigil honouring the thousands of kangaroos killed through the ACT Government's kangaroo culling program.

The vigil will be followed by the launch of Ancient as Innocence, a powerful collection of poems by Frankie Seymour, inspired by the long-running campaign to protect the ACT's kangaroos.

The book will be launched by Jenny MacDougall, author and founder of Animal Liberation ACT, with readings and performances by Frankie Seymour and Ian MacDougall.

🌿 Following the gathering, attendees are welcome to join an optional walk on The Pinnacle, an opportunity to connect with the landscape and reflect on the lives of the kangaroos who call it home.

📸 You're also invited to visit Belconnen Library, where a beautiful photographic display by Tina Hollis celebrates Canberra's kangaroos and captures the beauty, individuality and spirit of these remarkable animals.

More than a vigil, this is a chance to remember, reflect and reaffirm our respect for the kangaroos with whom we share this land.
