This new film is inspired by the life of Chris "Brolga" Barns, who captured hearts in our documentary Kangaroo: A Love-Hate Story.
This award-winning film brings to the big screen a story that honours Australia’s most iconic animal.
With a stellar cast including Ryan Corr, Rachel House, Lily Whiteley, Brooke Satchwell, Deborah Mailman, Rarriwuy Hick, and Ernie Dingo, Kangaroo promises to be one of the most moving and unforgettable cinema experiences of the year.
Why this matters:
This event is not only a great cinema experience, it is a fundraiser for Kangaroos Alive and the Victorian Kangaroo Alliance, with a percentage of profits supporting our work to protect kangaroos across Australia.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel - Panelists will be announced soon.
Join us for an unforgettable evening and help celebrate kangaroos as the Sacred Totem, National Icon of World Kangaroo Day 2025.
Together, let’s make this World Kangaroo Day one to remember.

Dedicated to protecting our national icon
"Kangaroos are intelligent, sentient beings, living in family groups and have their own songlines, language, culture and dreaming. As they traverse their own dreaming tracks, they continue to activate the earth's songlines for the survival of all living things."
